Depart from London Heathrow (LHR) at 11:30 AM. Prepare for an exciting adventure ahead as you fly to Thailand.
Land in Ching Mai by mid-morning. Transfer to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day acclimating and exploring the ancient city. Overnight at a Hotel in Chiang Mai.
After breakfast, transfer to the start of our trek, Paa Poo Jam, a remote crop and farming district high in the hills. From here we will begin our trek 13km through plantations and tea fields to the village of Baan Palo where we will be staying the night.
Baan Palo undoubtedly has some of the best views in all of Thailand. From where you stay, views across the entire Chiang Dao region with the pinnacle being Thailand’s 3rd tallest mountain right in front of us. This place has some of the most stunning sunrises and sunsets to be seen. If you’re lucky, enjoy a ‘sea of fog’ first thing in the morning.
After witnessing a spectacular sunrise across Chiang Dao followed by breakfast, prepare to depart for your full-day trek. The route snakes up dirt trails originally used for logging as we slowly continue to gain altitude. After a couple of hours the reward is arriving at the regional peak – Doi Sam Liem. From here you will see 360 degree views in all directions and can even make out the various places you have visited on your expedition so far. After lunch in the jungle the next 6km descends down a single-track path through surprising evergreen forest which later turns into rainforest as we lose elevation. When the forest clears, you will see fields that bloom in flowers. The day will end at Lahu Village hill tribe village where we will spend the night.
In the mornings here we can often witness the spectacular ‘sea-of-fog’ phenomenon that fills up the valley floor below. After breakfast we will continue our trek down the mountain. Approximately 8 km in length this portion descends a total of 600 meters passing 4 waterfalls – some of which are possible to swim in, a fantastic way to cool off half way!
We also pass through subsistence fruit and vegetable farms, coffee plantations, bamboo forests and of course the thickest of jungles. After lunch we load into the minivans and transfer 2.5 hrs north, driving over Thailand’s third tallest mountain to the village of Muang Khong.
After breakfast we start our kayaking journey downstream. The inflatable kayaks we will be using are extremely sturdy and the river starts of nice and gentle as it meanders through the jungle as it encroaches to the river banks.
Mid afternoon we will arrive to the village of Pha Khao Lam. This village belongs to the Karen hill tribe community and during a walk through the village we will seek and learn about local life and culture.
Setting off on the second day of our kayaking journey the rapids slowly begin to pick up and we put our developed skills to good use! All our trips are designed for complete beginners in all activities, all we ask is for a general fitness level and an open mind for trying new experiences. After lunch we pass the village of Sop Kai where we jump out of our inflatable kayaks and into whitewater rafts. The final 6km navigates through some of Thailand’s best whitewater. Its beautiful, its remote and the adrenaline will be flowing.
This evening we arrive at a basecamp where we enjoy hot showers, dinner, a campfire and spend the night.
After breakfast we embark on a 3-hour ATV trip that is set up for beginners to intermediate drivers. We start out with detailed instructions and a training course to get you comfortable with your vehicles. It is a mix of road and off-road jungle terrain. It’s well-suited for those that would like to explore the local countryside and see it a different way. We have different tracks that we choose based on weather conditions, road conditions and driver abilities.
After lunch we transfer back into Chiang Mai city where we check into our rooms. The rest of the afternoon and evening is free time to explore the night life, check out some unique northern dishes, or just chill by the pool.
Today is a travel day. After a leisurely breakfast we make our way to Chiang Mai airport for our 2-hr flight to Phuket. Upon arrival we transfer to our hotel. The rest of the afternoon is free to relax on the beach or explore some local sights.
We’ll travel to Koh Yao Noi by speedboat ferry from Phuket. Once there, we board a private longtail to begin your adventure. The first paddling area is a long point with some of the best limestone cliffs in the bay. There are quite a few secluded beaches as well. The highlight of this day is visiting one of the biggest hidden lagoons, called ‘hong’ in Thai, in Phang Nga Bay. This are also feature large areas of mangrove forest.
Tonight we wild camp overnight on a secluded beach. Camp is at the head of the point on a lovely beach. There is a large area of overhanging rock, so even if it rains, it’s unlikely that the outside of your tent will get wet.
The second day is spent exploring a stunning coastline, spotting wildlife and discovering secluded coves and beaches.
This afternoon we make our way back to the mainland where we transfer north by minivan to the town of Khao Sok where we stay overnight in a guesthouse.
This morning we board a longtain boat at Cheow Lan Lake and prepare to explore on of Thailand’s hidden gems. This reservoir covers one of Asia’s oldest tropical rainforests, home to an abundance of wildlife. Swim in clear blue waters, or marvel at the limestone cliffs. En-route to our accommodation we pass the famous Guilin of Thailand rock formations.
This afternoon we will explore a cave at the Kraisorn View Point and enjoy jungle. This evening, we have a change for an evening wildlife trip from the boat before returning to our floating raft house for dinner and bed.
Early morning before breakfast we set off on a morning boat safari on the lookout for various wildlife that the national park has to offer. Monkeys, primates, birds, elephants and much more!
After breakfast enjoy some free time to swim in the lake and use the kayaks to explore at your leisure. Mid morning we set off on a hike to explore the Namtalu Caves before returning to the raft house for dinner.
Another early morning before breakfast boat safari on the lookout for various wildlife that the national park has to offer. After breakfast we make our way back to the pier and transfer back to Phuket where we check in to the hotel on the beach. Enjoy the sunset over the Andaman ocean before a final dinner.
